Haddon Hall Hotel
"Awful service, even worse security"
Date: April 18, 2004
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Indianapolis, IN
We checked in on 4/16/05 into the Haddon Hall Hotel, and were
quite underwhelmed with the level of quality in the rooms. While the
rate was somewhat appealing, the rooms were quite dirty. Knowing that
the rooms were just an accessory, we decided to stay the weekend as
planned, however on 4/17/05 our 3 rooms (along with at least 2 others)
were broken into. The cause was faulty locks on the windows, of which
the hotel knew about. The alleyway between the hotel and the building
had no security whatsoever, not even a light. We also came to find
that the exact same incident happened exactly one week prior, in the
exact same rooms.
We demanded new rooms that did not have any sort of street level access,
and we were denied. When a manager or owner was requested, the desk
clerk claimed that he was the only one in charge at the time, and
would not assist us in either finding another secure room, or putting
us up in another hotel for the night.
The morning after, we heard the morning desk clerk, and some of the
other staff talking amongst themselves asking "why weren't those
windows fixed?" So we know that it was a known problem. This
hotel was over all a complete joke. We are going to all lengths to
get our money refunded from American Express and the travel company.
Dont be tempted by the somewhat-cheap rates, we lost over 2200 dollars
this past weekend...Stay at the Best Western on Washington. We spoke
directly with the police and crime scene investigators about it, it
may cost a few dollars more, but they have had no recent incidents.
Update: Hotel
burgalar arrested. Miami Beach police have arrested a suspect
responsible for 15 other hotel burglaries
