Prime 112 "Great
food, just not a relaxing experience"
Date: December 11, 2005
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Miami, FL
We went to Prime 112 because of the rave reviews and reputation
it has earned. Upon arriving the amount of people stuffed into this
small building is amazing! I cant imagine the fire marshall could
allow it!
The wait for the table was short.....which is good because at first
I wanted to leave. The noise level is what you would expect if you
had about 200 of your closest friends jammed into the kitchen of
your house.
Onc we were seated, we were glad we stayed. The food was great...the
meat was aged and perfect, and the side dishes were the best we
have ever had. Even the seafood dishes were very well done.
To add to the experience the place was loaded with celeb like Majic
Johnson, Hip Hop stars, and several retired NFL players.
The experience was a good one, however NOT a good place to a "relaxing"
night out....I suggest you bring earplugs.
Prime 112 "Only Great Stuff at
Prime 112"

All I can say is Terrific! The food is so rich and tasty!
My favorites are the truffle french fries (needs no ketchup, it
tastes so good on it's own), the truffle deviled eggs, the stuffed
lobster (melts in your mouth)! The service is exceptional. All the
servers were right there when we needed service. We only had to
wait 10 minutes before we were seated. Very busy place, so if you're
looking for a place with lots of people, fun, and excellent food,
this is definitely the place.
Prime 112 "Best restaurant in Miami
Beach"
Date: April 21, 2005

My husband and I had a Saturday night reservation at 7:30
and were seated at 7:45. The decor is great, chic & simple just
as you would expect for the hottest restaurant in town. I had the
filet, which was by far the best I have ever had! The lobster bisque
is unlike any other...absolutley delicious with huge pieces of lobster
meat. Great energy, great service & even better food!!
Prime 112 "Dissapointed"

We were very exited about dining
at this "Superb" Restaurant, but when we got there, we
wanted to turn around and leave. The noise were so annoing that
it was impossible to have a conversation with the person next to
you and the customers were so poorly tasteless dressed that seemed
we were having dinner at McDonald's . We were sitted in the hall
way where customers and employees were coming and going, the tables
had no tablecloth (which is very rare for such an expensive restaurant),
and the service was very, very poor, on top of that they charge
18% gratuity automaticly. The food was O.K., but for the price they
charge, you expect something better. This was our first and last
time, dining at Prime One Twelve.
Prime 112 "Poor Service"
Date: January 7, 2005
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Miami Beach, FL
I had heard that Prime 112 was
the latest place to be, which should have been enough warning, but
I had a friend coming in from London and gave it a try. In spite
of having made a reservation 10 days earlier for the Friday evening
table for 2, we were asked to wait at the bar and had to struggle
through the crowd to get a glass of wine. We waited at least 30
minutes before our table was ready. Fter all that, we were given
a table by the door. Once we were seated, the service was fine but
the food was certainly not any better that I have had at Smith &
Wollensky or Ruth's Chris (Coral Gables, one of my favorites) where
the treatment is generally much better for the price.
Prime 112 "Expectations too high"

Heard it was the greatest, but
it is not. Very nicely decorated, but the chairs and tables are
just ok. The bartender (we arrived early) inadvertently forgot to
put the banana liquer in our drink. When we brought it to his attention,
he was a bit wierd about it, then reached around for the liquer
and 'fixed' it--made us very uncomfortable. The staff after that,
both at the bar and the table were top notch. Strips of bacon are
at your finger tips at the bar (gratis)--very nice touch. Food:
Steak was excellent. Sea bass, excellent too. Greatest, no, but
very very good. The appetizers are nice, but not amazing. Salad
portions are more than generous, and we were told in advance about
this. However, the house salad (the dressing) was bland. Very loud.
The music is all Sinatra, and that is nice. But the accoustics with
the crowd/chit chat, isdeafening. Makes it difficult to converse.
The liquor is obscenely priced. The least expensive glass of white
wine is $13 a glass. The wine list is nothing to rave over. The
menu price list for food is not a problem--it is consistent with
what you expect in a new elegant steak place. I am sorry, but price
gouging on the liquor/wine is not acceptable. We did not price cosmopolitans
or similar items, but no doubt it is something extraordinary. At
nearly $20 a glass for a Chardonnay that is a recognizeable Napa
Valley, it does not go down very smoothly. Overall, very nice restaurant,
but not the amazing experience we expected.
Prime 112 "Heaven in Hell"

My husband and I had a reservation at 10:15 pm. on a Friday night
mid-November. When we arrived we were told they were very
busy and we would have to wait about twenty minutes. They suggested
we get a drink at the bar which was virtually impossible given the
tiny bar that was ten deep with no movement. After 30 minutes, we
were told it wouldn't be much longer. We still were not able to
get a glass of wine given the crowd at the bar. After an hour, we
went to join the others at the hostess stand to complain about waiting
an hour for our reservation. We were left with no explanation from
the management, only an apology. Approximately 11:40, an hour and
twenty five minutes after our reservation that I made a week in
advance and with a lot of heated words exchanged with the manager,
we were finally seated. Despite the hell that we endured before
we actually got to sit down for our meal, the restaurant does have
something going for it. The management is terrible. The over-booking
is ridiculous and a joke. The food and the service, however are
impeccable. If you can make it through the stupidity of the people
who control the booking and walk ins, you're in for a great meal.
My husband and I both shared a salad big enough for five and it
was great. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was out of this world and the
filets we got.............the best I've had. I thought it was even
better than N9ne in Vegas. I would recommend going early and maybe
throwing a bottle of pepto bismol in your purse before you go. If
you can't get a glass of wine to calm your stomach from your anger
of dealing with the wait, then the pepto should do the trick. By
the way, I can't tell you about dessert. We used valet and they
only had the lot until 1:00 a.m so we didn't have time to try any
given our late seating. Good Luck!
