Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
 

Vizcaya history and information

Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark built
by American industrialist James Deering, who wintered on the property from 1916, until his death in 1925. Today, the European-inspired estate includes a house filled with art and furnishings, ten acres of gardens on Biscayne Bay, and a restored public village.


Vizcaya Museum and Gardens tours
Take a shuttle to the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.



The house is open for tours every day, except Christmas, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Main House closes at 5 pm. and the gardens close at 5:30 pm. Vizcaya volunteer guides provide interesting and informative tours of the museum in English. The tours currently focus on the ground floor of the Main House. Visitors are invited to explore the second floor spaces and gardens on their own.

Vizcaya Cafe and Shop offers light fare for visitors. It is located on the north side of the main House, overlooking the historic swimming pool. The shop sells mementos, gift items, postcards, and jewelry.

Rental Information
For those who wish to have a modest marriage ceremony, the gardens are available for daytime rental.

Vizcaya is also available for rent during the evening hours. Guests have the exclusive use of the inner courtyard, outside terraces, and gardens. Private events cannot be held during the day as Vizcaya operates as a public museum throughout the year.

Film and Photography
Visitors are welcome to take photographs or videos in the gardens only. Photographs and videos are not permitted in the Main House or the Café and Shop.

Photography permits are available for individuals who wish to use Vizcaya as the setting for personal photo portraits by professional photographers. The permits are sold at the ticket booth from 9:30am - 4:30pm daily. No reservations are necessary.

Commercial Still Photography and Filming Permits are available by advance reservation. Major film and television shoots are approved on a case-by-case basis after submitting a detailed request in writing.

Driving directions
From I-95S to Vizcaya:
• Exit 1A.
• Turn Right onto South Miami Avenue.
• Turn Left at 3rd light into Vizcaya.

• Vizcaya is located at 3251 South Miami Avenue.
