DeVito South Beach Announces June Opening: Help Wanted

We just received a nice email from Shazeen Shah at Tara Ink. announcing that Danny DeVito’s restaurant is opening this month. From the release:

DeVito South Beach will start the summer season with a sizzle when the highly anticipated restaurant gives an exclusive VIP sneak preview on June 13, 2007, prior opening its doors to the public on June 18.  DeVito South Beach is located at 150 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL.
Renowned South Florida restaurateur David Manero, together with partners Michael Brauser and Emmy award-winning actor Danny DeVito, will host an invitation-only grand opening event for a select few hundred of Miami’s most seasoned tastemakers, along with special VIPs and celebrity guests.
Creating a partnership with Michael Brauser and world-recognized actor and producer Danny DeVito, Manero plans to bring Hollywood to South Beach. “Danny shares in our vision for a quality night on the town,” says Manero.  “Danny has a wholesome appeal and brings a true Italian flavor to the restaurant.  DeVito South Beach will be more than just the place to eat before going out, it will be the evening destination for sophisticated residents and visitors to South Florida. Guests will never feel rushed from their table and will be able to enjoy the truly unique Italian menu we have to offer.”
Danny DeVito comments on the opening of DeVito South Beach:  “To put my family name on a restaurant is monumental for me. My family and my friends are what I value most in life. I would like to share with you, my extended family, the joy of eating and drinking with your family and friends at DeVito South Beach.”
Manero has employed a well-traveled culinary team, spearheaded by Executive Chef Francis Casciato, who brings a traditional Italian Chop House concept to DeVito South Beach with a unique array of the very finest fresh ingredients for bold and contrasting flavors and textures in his recipes that reflect the season.  The Global Steak Flight will be the restaurant’s signature dish that will include a presentation of premium Kobe steak from three different regions of the world—authentic Japanese Kobe Beef, Australian Wagyu Rollatini and American Kobe Flat Iron.  The Porcini Trio will delight pasta lovers with a delectable selection of Porcini Gnocci, Porcini Bolognese and Porcini Fritti. The Burrata, prepared daily, with fresh ingredients sourced locally, will also be house-made.  The architecture of the food has been developed to “touch all the senses” according to Manero. The contemporary Italian menu will feature cuisine rich in protein, an extensive list of Italian wines and a menu of bottled water specially imported from New York.

Wikipedia says Danny DeVito is a vegetarian. I have sent a note to Shazeen asking about this. I wonder if Danny will have some of his favorite vegetarian dishes on the menu? It would be nice. South Beach diners are hungry for more restaurants with good vegetarian selections.

Design is also a top priority for Manero, who introduced design group Lynn Interior Designs (L.I.D) to oversee the renovation to the property costing more than $6M. “The warm colors used in the restaurant’s design will evoke comfort and depth, adding to the overall experience with a classic contemporary twist on traditional Italian decor,” says Manero. The open-plan Teatro (theater style) kitchen and Venetian-like bar will encompass a 1940’s look, inspired by the legendary interior designer Dorothy Draper.  DeVito South Beach will blend a decorative allure of avocado greens, lipstick reds and pearl whites throughout both levels, with the upstairs space, known as Cascina (small Tuscany house) featuring a cantina-like wine room, plasma televisions, multiple fireplaces and DJ booth.  Imported Venetian chandeliers illuminate the reclaimed Chicago brick walls and Italian marble tabletops to enhance the modern twist on old Hollywood theme, interpreted as “Global Glam” by L.I.D. Custom-made 85-light fixtures hang throughout the main dining room giving each individual table an intimate glow. For the ultimate in privacy, the second floor dining room can be reached by a private elevator accessible from the street side entrance.

In addition to the 10,000 square foot interior space, there will be an additional 1,000 square feet of outdoor space, emulating an Italian Palazzo and featuring several outdoor cabanas with custom Cedar settees; an outdoor communal dining table with oversized patent leather pearl white wing chairs and a classic Italian style porch with a wide plank Peci Cypress finish on the ceiling to bring the warmth of the inside to the outdoor environment. The alfresco dining experience is accentuated with Seagrape tree surroundings as part of the landscape.

With his prolific track record in the restaurant business, coupled with the celebrity touch from Danny DeVito, Manero and his business partner Michael Brauser have created a winning formula for a new brand of fine dining in Miami Beach. DeVito South Beach is located at 150 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139 and will be open daily for dinner from 5:00pm to 11:45pm weekdays and from 5:00pm to 1:00am on the weekends. "DeVito South Beach Announces June Opening: Help Wanted"

Christian says:

Good question regarding Devito being listed as a vegetarian and the restaurant selections.  My girlfriend and I were wondering about that as well, but when we checked the menu, we saw only one dish that mentioned the word vegetarian.
