I’m Bored, What’s There To Do? (Valentine’s Edition)

Yup, that commercial holiday has arrived…Looking to celebrate love or not, there’s plenty to do!

Let’s get it out of the way first. Valentine’s Day is Thursday (2/14). Romantic dinners can be had at Santo, Social and BED. Catch a romantic film, Girl Shy, at Miami Beach Cinematheque. If you’re more interested in music, Paul Anka will be at Hard Rock Live. If you’re looking to FIND love, how about Murder Mystery Speed Dating? Even if you don’t have any luck finding a match, it takes place at Ghirardelli - you can’t go wrong!!! One tip: don’t pig out until AFTER the speed dating.

If your true love is boats, the Miami International Boat Show is at the Convention Center Thursday through Monday (2/18).

Other things to see this week include Donna Summer at the BankAtlantic Center Saturday and Sunday; Elite XC Cage Fighting at the BankUnited Center Saturday; or Second Sun and Serge Devant at Mansion Saturday.

At the Cinematheque, Independent Lens 2008 presents Iron Ladies Of Liberia Wednesday (2/13); a 2007 film festival favorite Syndromes and a Century Friday (2/15); Killer of Sheep, in honor of Black History Month, Saturday (2/16); and Docuspain presents The Miracle Of Candeal (El milagro de Candeal) Sunday (2/17). Three filmmaking workshops, Screenwriting I, Screenwriting II and Directing I, are also scheduled for the weekend.
