I’m Bored, What’s There To Do? (MIF, Winter Party, and Bob Marley Festivals)

The Miami International Film Festival will feature hundreds of film screenings around the city between today (2/28) and March 9th. The opening film tonight is La Misma Luna (Under the Same Sun) at the Gusman Center at 7pm. The Gusman lineup looks fantastic all weekend and there are more films being shown at the Colony, the Regal Cinemas, the Byron Carlyle, Sunrise Cinemas, Tower Theater, and UM’s Bill Cosford Cinema.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s annual Winter Party Festival has parties, exhibits, shopping and more going on through Sunday (3/2).

The 15th Annual Caribbean Festival, presented by the Bob Marley Movement and 103.5 The Beat, is taking place at Bayfront Park all day Saturday (3/1). Other festivals going on this weekend include the International Orchid Festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Friday - Sunday and the Asian Culture Festival at Fruit & Spice Park Saturday and Sunday.

For you runners, Carnaval Miami’s 8k Run and 5k Walk will take place tomorrow (2/29) at 7pm.

If you’re looking to party this weekend, you’ll find a Bob Marley tribute party (the pre-party to Saturday’s Caribbean Festival) Friday, Starkillers & Austin Leeds Saturday, and the Moss Brothers’ (Santana Moss of the Washington Redskins and Sinorice Moss of the NY Giants) Celebrity Weekend Party Sunday, all at Mansion. Dr Robert Rey of TV’s Dr 90210 will host Opium Garden’s Saturday night party to celebrate his new shapeware line. Ladies in by 1am have a chance to win a spot, with 3 friends, at Dr. Rey’s Exclusive VIP Table for a private one-on-one and complimentary cocktails.

At Hard Rock Live this weekend you can find comedian Carlos Mencia tonight, Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts Saturday, and Don Rickles and Joan Rivers together on Sunday and Monday.

Also going on around town: Mannheim Steamroller will be at the Fillmore Miami Beach Friday; the Harlem Globetrotters are at the BankAtlantic Center Saturday and at the AA Arena Sunday; and Love, Janis the Musical is at the Parker Playhouse Friday - Sunday.

Attention shoppers!!! Red Carter is holding a sample sale at the Sagamore Hotel Monday at 10am.
