The Top 9 Things to Do on Labor Day in Miami BeachEnd of Summer? Not Really. But Still Plenty of Excuses to Party.
Nikki Beach is throwing the rare Saturday party this weekend with their Declaration of Dance with Mansion’s favorite DJ Funkagenda, plus Miami legend Oscar G, newcomers EDX, and about a dozen other acts cool people know about but we don’t. But it’s an outdoor EDM party, so if that’s your thing get tickets here. Barbecuing is an integral part of Labor Day, but that might involve actually grilling. Which you may not be inclined to do. So 660 at The Angler’s is throwing cheeseburgers, chicken wings, hotdogs and a half racks of BBQ ribs on the grill, with baked beans, corn on the cob, and other barbecue favorites on the side. All for $20, $10 for kids,12pm to 6pm Saturday to Monday. The extra day off work basically means there’s another day you can get brunch, and that fact is not lost on the folks and Tongue and Cheek who’re offering up their 3-course Miami Spice menu for a mere $23 Monday, plus their regular brunch with free coffee and some of Miami’s best doughnuts. Every few months Miamians go all floaty-toy crazy, link up, and float around South Beach in an event known as Floatopia. During this weekend’s incarnation, after the fun at South Pointe Park, tag any picture of yourself with @SoBeMarriott on Twitter or @MariottStantonSoBe on Instagram and then claim a FREE DAIQUIRI at the Marriott Stanton on 2nd Street after. In one of the more curious party themes of the weekend, Cavalli is throwing a “Goodbye Summer†party, which might make us sad if it weren’t summer ALL YEAR LONG. And it’s not like hurricane season doesn’t go another 3 months anyway. But any excuse for a party, right? The dress code: Gold. Of course. Big name DJs aplenty this weekend (like it’s not every weekend) with Bob Sinclair bringing his “Paris by Night†party back to Wall on Saturday, Calvin Harris at LIV on Saturday, and All Gone Pete Tong that same night down at Story. Jungle Island is all about the Hamiltons this weekend, where $10 each gets you park admission, access to the aqua park, lemur encounters, VIP tours, and family meals. Plus you can remember Labor Days of yesteryear with sidewalk chalk, face painting, and hula-hoop competitions. Couldn’t get into Yardbird for brunch on Sunday? No problem! They’re doing brunch on Monday too with their famous chicken biscuit, chicken and watermelon waffles, cheesy grits and other southern favorites. Of course, no promises you can get in Monday either. A pool party for Labor Day sounds nice. A $45 ticket to get in? Notsonice. So The Surfcomber’s letting the first 400 people in ABSOLUTELY FREE to hear lounge by the pool to beats by The Sluggers, DJ Craze, Just Blaze and Mike Russ from 12-8pm.
