After almost a month of peaceful interactions with county, city and police officials, Occupy Miami activists are being threatened with eviction from their Government Center encampment.
Details at this point are not very clear but the following was posted Wednesday night on the Occupy Miami Facebook page.
Miami, The city is trying to get us to move camp tomorrow. We aren’t sure what is going to happen. What we are sure of is.. WE NEED YOU HERE. Tell all of your friends, family and anyone who supports us that we need you to come out to camp tomorrow at 12 PM.
We have a permit but the city is trying to get us to move and REAPPLY for a permit for a construction project on the property we are occupying. We NEED to have numbers… TELL EVERYONE
In what has taken place in countless other cities throughout the country, the threat of eviction can easily lead to mass arrests and police brutality.
I’ll be there at noon to keep up with developments. Come back later for more details.
In the meantime, check out the above video of Occupy Miami activists protesting against Bank of America last week where they break out in a James Brown song and dance to get their point across.
If anything, our protesters have more rhythm than other cities’ protesters.
