Public Parking Rates Increase 100% - Daily Rate Now $15

As gas prices climb to $4 a gallon and our nation enters a recession, the City Of Miami Beach has decided now is a good time to raise public parking rates 100%.

The $8 maximum daily rate went up to $15 on all municipal lots and garages.

Speaking about the rate increase, Miami Beach Parking Director Saul Frances told MiamiHerald:

“Flat rate private parking is $15 to $20. We’re in line with market prices. Demand is so high that I don’t think we’ll see a fluctuation, but the average stays will become shorter. One space will accommodate several vehicles instead of just one.’‘

How long will it take the private parking lot owners to raise the rates? My prediction is private parking will cost between $30 and $40 by the end of summer.

Awhile back, I was as an independent contractor for the City of Miami Beach. While I was there, I learned most of the higher ups employed by the City have special VIP parking permits that allow them to park anywhere, including handicapped spots and metered spaces—and not pay.

Thankfully, it’s still free for anyone to park a vehicle on the residential streets in South Beach before 6pm.

0 - 1 hrs:  $ 1
1 - 2 hrs:  $ 2
2 - 3 hrs:  $ 3        
3 - 4 hrs:  $ 4
4 - 24 hrs: $ 15
Monthly: $74.90

Early Bird Special: Monday thru Friday
Enter between 6am and 10am and depart by 7pm at a rate of $ 8
