South Pointe Park Reopens SundayAre you looking for something to do this weeken? The City of Miami Beach wants to invite you to the grand re-opening of South Pointe Park! When: Sunday, March 22 from 3pm to Sunset The Party is Free and open to the public. Nannette Rodriguez, Public Information Officer for the City, is encouraging you to park the lot, across from City hall and take public transportation to the Park as parking will be a challenge due to Spring Break. About The New Park The makeover of the 17 ½-acre park includes 20-foot-wide walkways lined with Florida limestone running the length of Government Cut; the restoration of natural sand dunes next to a pathway made of crushed shells; and an ocean-themed children’s playground with sand dollar spinners and motion-actived water sprays. There is also a walkway that links to the beachwalk. At night, the promenade will be lit up by neon light towers that shine on the walkway. Leashed dogs are even welcome at the new park. Doggie waste stations, with doggie bags and trash cans, have been strategically placed throughout the park. South Pointe Park will now have two entrances: one at Washington Avenue and a new pedestrian entrance on Ocean Drive. The park will close at 10pm daily, but the walkway will remain open until 2am.
