Will Hurricane Fans Rush the Field After the Game? This Saturday, 71-years of tradition will come to an end when the Miami Hurricanes play their last game at the Orange Bowl. Should Hurricane fans be allowed to rush the field after the game to celebrate? The University President and the Football Coach say no friggin’ way. President Donna Shalala and football Coach Randy Shannon, sent out an email to alumni and students saying that rushing the field will not be tolerated. Throughout the blogosphere, thousands of Hurricane fans have expressed interest in rushing the field after the game. Some students said they plan to rush peacefully, while others have expressed a desire for a more aggressive celebration. A Facebook group called “Rush The O.B. on Nov. 10” has reached over 1,400 members. The game, against the Virginia Cavaliers, starts at 7:15pm. What do you think the odds are the fans will not heed the University’s request? I predict fans will chicken out and not rush the field. But I hope I’m wrong. I’m not condoning vandalism, but it would be cool to see the Orange Bowl go out in style. Perhaps the fans need some encouragement…

Cops will be arresting ANYONE who rushes the field, no questions asked! I’d rather you call me ‘chicken’ than have to sit in a dingy communal cell with hookers and crackheads.
I know it’s the end of an era. I get that- you know I live a few blocks away from the OB. (Incidentally, I’ll be charging $10 for parking) But the OB is government property-city of Miami to be specific- why should the city pay for damage to the field done by students? (Granted, who’s gonna use the field now?) I think people will rush and for one reason only: alcohol. Saturday’s tailgate parties should be off the chain. Maybe I’ll take my camera. Think there’s a market for UM Girls Gone Wild?
