Cory Doctorow found a fun list that shows the sounds that cats are said to make in different languages:

Dutch: miau
English: meow

French: miao

Greek: miao
Hebrew: miyau
Hungarian: miau
Italian: miau
Japanese: nyan nyan/nyaa nyaa
Russian: miyau
Spanish: miao
Swedish: mjan mjan
Urdu: meow

Elias points out “the sound of the cat in Spanish is not ‘miao’ but ‘miau’.

I always thought it was “miso” in Spanish.

MiamiGirl also has cats on the brain. She started a new category on her site called “Rescue Me” that is devoted to animals in need a home. 

The picture below is of Tiger and Toon, two more stray kittens Michelle and I rescued.

It’s probably best that we not include pictures of Alejandro, Anabelle, Magic, and Red. We don’t want you to think we’re weird cat people.
