I too stumbled across the Playwright Irish Pub accidentally and found it to be one of the best places to visit in South Beach. Every employee is friendly and the service is outstanding. We go there almost every night while on vacation either to start the night out or to make a night of it. The St. Patricks day party is great! We have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world there which is a lot of fun. I would recommend the Playwright to people of all ages and can't wait to visit again. Playwright Irish Pub "Best bar in town" Date: September 9, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Miami, FL am actually originally from Stamford, CT but I've been living in Miami for about six years. My friends and I stumbled upon the Playwright purely by accident. It was a Saturday this past February, we were originally supposed to go to The Greater Miami Mardi Gras but it was crowded and stinky so we decided to hit the beach instead. We stopped at a place for some Mojito's (that's for another review) and walked down Washington Avenue, we saw the sign and stopped in front of Playwright's debating on whether or not to go in. Three out of four wanted to try it out so we went in. It was kind of empty but it was around 4 in the afternoon, not that many people are in bars at that time. We sat down in one of the large booths and the waitress comes over, we ask her to recommend something because we're notreally beer drinkers but thought "when in Rome...". She brought us Strongbow, she called it a cider but we call it Nectar of the Gods. She then recommended we try something called an Irish Car Bomb, we loved that too and each of us ended up doing three of them. The atmosphere left a little to be desired but the staff was friendly and all the drink recommendations were right on. We left and since we're all young professionals we didn't return for another couple of weeks. This time it was a Friday night. There was a lot more people and a DJ. Our group was larger so we grabbed one of the larger tables in the section close to the door. That place is better than any club. This time the recommended drink was a Jaeger Bomb, awesome. The food is pretty good too; I split the shepherd's pie with one friend, and the Reuben sandwich with another. I know we sampled a few more things from the menu but those two are the ones that stick out in my mind. Two of us have returned for Happy Hour after work on Fridays and it has been great. One time three of us went on a Saturday night to celebrate my friends' birthday and between the three of us we rang up a $400 bill. We forgot that gratuity is already included (we always do) and each of us tipped between thirty and fifty dollars. They love us there. If you are ever in the area on a Friday or Saturday night and see a loud raucous group in the raised section, feel free to come and join us, we'll introduce you to Strongbow, no one we've shared it with has turned it down. We won't bite. Playwright Irish Pub "Pitiful Playwright" Date: February 26, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Toronto, ON This is the only Irish pub I've been to where I couldn't get a Harp or a Guiness. Just a boring, loud bar wrapped in the guise of an Irish pub, without the one thing that would make it tolerable...good beer. Have you been to Playwright Pub?
