Incorporated in 1972,
Swire Properties is one of Hong Kong's leading property companies,
with extensive experience in the development and management of major
commercial and residential properties.
Swire Properties is a wholly owned subsidiary
of Swire Pacific Limited, a Hong Kong listed company within the
Swire Group, whose roots go back to the establishment of the Taikoo
Sugar Refinery in Quarry Bay in the 1880s. This was followed by
the construction of the Taikoo Dockyard on adjacent land in the
early 1900s. These land holdings formed the basis of Swire Properties'
initial development activities in the early 1970s.
Today all of Swire Pacific's divisions, including property, aviation,
industries, trading and marine services, have representative businesses
in the Mainland.
Swire Properties' investment portfolio in Hong Kong principally
comprises office and retail premises in prime locations, as well
as serviced apartments and other luxury residential accommodation.
Our investment portfolio totals around 12 million sq ft (1.16 million
sq m) of gross floor area. Current investment property pending or
under development in Hong Kong comprises a further 2.58 million
sq ft (237,000 sq m), mainly of office space.
Outside Hong Kong, the Company owns a 10% interest in the CITIC
Square development in Shanghai, and a 75% interest in the Mandarin
Oriental Hotel in Miami, Florida. Swire Properties also owns a 97%
interest in a foreign joint venture company which plans to construct
a mixed-use commercial development in Guangzhou, to be managed by
Swire Properties and called Taikoo Hui..
Swire Properties has an excellent track record in property trading.
Commencing with the landmark Taikoo Shing, completed in 1986, some
30,000 residential apartments in key locations have been sold to
date.
Swire Properties will continue to focus its development on quality
properties in prime locations.
Building portfolio
Swire Properties Inc., the USA real estate operation of Swire Pacific,
has been active in the development of investment and trading properties
in Florida since the 1970s. Its primary focus is on Brickell Key in
downtown Miami, where a number of commercial and residential properties
have been developed. Some two decades ago, Swire Group selected an
elite team of land planners, engineers, architects, and environmentalists
to create a master plan that would enable Brickell Key to evolve gracefully
over time into one of the world's finest private island properties.
