Madiba : Excellent Casual Dining
By Mitch from Humboldt County, CA on December 23, 2006.
A dining adventure. I was so amazed by delicious food and service, trying new delights I had never tasted before. Generous portions for a fine restaurant. Starting with appetizers, the Ostrich Carpaccio was perfection itself: gently seasoned and delicious. The Tristan Lobster Tail also won me over: succulent and sweet. Both were superb and beautifully presented. I ate the Potjie Bredie, a simple, mildly spicy ox tail stew served with hominy and beans. Also very good. My friend had Pap & Boerewors, homemade sausage with a fine polenta. Both were tasty. For dessert we shared Malva Pudding, more like a gingery cake soaked in hot, sweet sauce. Also quite good. It’s been a while since I have had a full meal where the food was so good from beginning to end. Service was friendly and the staff took the time to explain the unusual foods. Very casual, but the dining was fine and first class.
