Catalina Hotel: Good only for the night, not for vacation  

Ok, so my best friend loves this hotel and swears by it, but I could not believe the level of UNPROFESSIONALISM, we experienced this weekend. I live in South Fl, but figured it would be easier just to stay on the Beach instead of driving back and forth. So I valet parked my car (an expensive $26 a night), and informed the valet worker that I would need my vehicle at night because I had to pick someone up from the airport, and she ensured me it wouldn’t be a problem if I moved it back and forth.  So I told them I wanted my car, by 8:30, and I told them this at 8:00, thinking that they would have it then.  The person who I was supposed to pick up from the airport came in a little earlier, so I was in a bit of a rush.  I got my car at 8:50, a little pissed because it took over 45 minutes to get a car that was 3 blocks over. I informed the valet worker who brought back my car that I was in a rush, and I would take care of him (meaning give him a tip) when I returned and I proceeded up Collins Ave.  Cutting to the chase, literally, I was
chased 3 lights by the angry valet worker demanding that he receive his tip, NOW, because he wasn’t sure if he was going to be there when I returned.  Fuming, I called to speak to the manager who came all the way from his home to speak with me, and was ensured that my car would be taken care of for the rest of the weekend, which was re-assuring, but did not compensate for his employee’s lack of professionalism and just plain ‘ol manners.  On top of that, we literally had to beg and plead for washcloths and towels the entire weekend. And our toilet broke at least 5 times. Great Staff, but very very disorganized and not on top of simple issues that can unfold into bigger ones.  Great place to crash for the night, but I would not recommend for a vacation.
