Riande Continental South Beach: Great for the price  

Having read some of the comments, I was more than a little concerned when I was heading down to Miami.  While this isn’t the fanciest hotel, it is certainly pleasant enough.  There has not been a major renovation in many years, obviously, but the place was clean in all respects.  There were no scuff marks on the walls, etc.  It wasn’t a fancy hotel, but it is on South Beach and it is very affordable, I wasn’t expecting a Ritz Carlton!  The front desk personnel were very helpful and pleassant.  The bathroom was small, but certainly no smaller than the Hyatt at Grand Central in Manhattan.  Strangely the first time I called to change the reservation, there was no answer, but I called back an hour later, and a very up-to-date voice processing system handled the call and switched me to a very competent, helpful person.  That was the one somewhat bizarre note.  Having read the reviews, I was worried when I went down there, but pleased by the hotel and its staff.
