DeVito's: Nice, but overall disappointing  

My date and I went to DeVito South Beach, anticipating a memorable evening.  The restaurant is gorgeous, well appointed, and classy.  We got there early and were escorted to the bar.  We had 2 simple drinks (one each) and received a bill for $38.  First shock.  After being seated and looking at the regular menu, we were more than a little taken back by the prices.  We asked for a “Miami Spice” menu, where we could order an appetizer, main course and dessert for $35/person.  I had the boneless chicken and Eileen had the salmon.  The chicken was excellent, but the salmon was undercooked.  She sent it back, and received the same piece of salmon back, still undercooked, but with additional sauce added, which completely masked the flavor of the fish, if she could have eaten it.  The desserts were fine.  Overall, a very pleasant atmosphere, with rediculous prices, and a kitchen, where, apparently no one knows how to cook salmon.  3 minutes on each side…not that difficult. 

Danny, how many of your friends in Asbury Park could afford to eat in your restaurant???  There’s enough overpriced restaurants in Miami Beach for the beautiful people.  It’s a shame that a fellow gonzo from Jersey, couldn’t open one for the average working family.  We won’t be back!
