Mynt: Racist at the door

My best friend and I went to Mynt Saturday (5/5/07) and did not get in because we are black! There was a horrible looking man at the front that was deciding who gets in and who doesn’t. He told us not to waste his time twice. Never in our life have we ever been so disrespected and humiliated because of our skin color. The club also plays hip hop and reggae music, so it seems very crazy that he can play music written and performed by black people but not let them into his ridiculous club. We were very upset and disturbed by this situation but, I am a strong believer that what goes around always comes back around ten times over. If you want to be discriminated against, this is the club to go to!

Mynt is located at 1921 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139 .

Rafster,

I avoid the clubs due to fear of the door myself. Did the doorman make a racist remark? Are you sure he wasn’t referring to your outfit? Please don’t think I’m insulting you, I know these guys can be jerks, I’m just missing part of the story.

Six-figure VIP (find me at the country club AND th says:

Honey, its gonna be alright for you and your friend. Like lots of clubs all across the country, they turn away ALL colors and types of people - and have the right to do it. Spend your money elsewhere—where its appreciated! Miami is full of great dance clubs and Mynt ain’t one of ‘em. I went in a group last year and it’s nothing special. We actually left because the place was so empty! Nobody was there! (We asked for a refund of out our cover and table cost, and they got offended. We threatened to report them for selling alcohol to minors and then they gave us our money back). Besides, the real “movers and shakers” don’t hang out in a yuppy filled skank house of wannabes like Mynt… they AVOID them
