Casa Tua: Stay away from Casa Tua  

I agree with the previous disappointing remarks. I read all the reviews here, but still wanted to try the restaurant. Forget it. My partner and I also noticed a “pretentiousness” in the air and, at these prices, I would expect a little more. I mean it’s supposed to be a “fine” restaurant not a trendy nightclub where attitude is expected. We were told that the “only” reservation was at 7:00pm, so we decided to take it. The place was empty from start to finish. I echo the comments from the previous reviewer that they seem to do it to create a “buzz”. We sat outside with all the noise of 17th street. Sure the trees are high and you are screened in, but trust me the moped noise comes barrelling through. The service was attentive, but perhaps inexperienced like it was all their first jobs. On to the meal. The bread was a selection of non-interesting starchy enriched white breads served with nothing. [I heard another table had to ask for “butter or something”]. My focaccia was bland and I left it. My appetizer was the spinach salad. I actually felt compelled to order it because I heard from these reviews that the main meals were skimpy. The salad was bland and unimaginative. My date got the zucchini flowers which were very interesting and good. The main meals were brazino and grouper, both average and VERY expensive. For dessert, we got the chef’s selection of cheeses. I did not like any of them and the waiter could not tell us the names or anything about them that made somehow unique. I think that if you want to spend $250 for two, then go to Azul at the Mandarin Hotel in Miami. We should have known when they take your credit card number to hold the reservation, that something is off. This reviewer says “stay away”.
