Big Pink: Waitress with a bad attitude

On Sun, Aug 5, 2007, my girlfriend and I ordered takeout. Upon receiving the bill ($19.50), I gave the waitress a $20 and she just stood there. We asked, “Do you need more money?”, and she replies,“Not if you’re not going to tip.” Who says that? First off, there were no utensils and napkins, and the extra salsa which we paid for, we didn’t receive! And, since when do you tip for a takeout order? This waitress was down right rude and sucked at life!!! Now I’ve lived in Miami Beach for over 15 yrs, and been in hospitality for many years, I run Univ (a clothing store on 1st Street) which is leased from the same owner as Big Pink. My point: I eat at Big Pink very frequently and now I’ll never return or recommend this restaurant to anyone!!

As a waitress myself, I understand her frustration with you not tipping. On certain nights there is a designated to go specialist who does nothing but take to go orders. She gets paid by tips like other waitresses, but most people don’t consider it. It didn’t give her an excuse to be so blatantly rude and disrespectful, but next time at least consider giving her a couple bucks for taking care of your food.
