Map and location User reviewsAlta Mar "Fine seafood"Date: October 8, 2005 Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Los Angeles, CA Here's a small but attentive Italian cafe on Lincoln Road, but off the main strip, and worth the visit. The best items are off the menu specials, and prices are moderate. Soft shell crabs in season were lightly battered and sauteed with a great asian-style peppery dressing. Grouper Ceviche was a refreshing zesty lemon-infused fish dish with fresh baby greens and tomatoes. The Mixte Fritto (fried meixed seafood) included calamari rings and heads, shell-on salt-and-pepper shrimps and fish chunks, breaded and perfectly fried up with a chunky marinara. Also great was a quite tasty Yellowjack, locally caught, sauteed in butter and served under a light lemon-caper sauce with creamed potatoes and steamed squash. An extensive wine list is available, and they serve Moretti and Grolsch beers in the bottle. Atmosphere is unpressured and modern, service is fine and the scene
is typical Miami Beach, fun and busy. Reservations are a good idea
weekend nights.
