Lario's "Really
great food, drink and music"
Date: May 7, 2005
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Austin, TX
We recently visited So. Beach and found Larias on our last night.
Too bad for us that we didn't find this sooner. The food was great,
the drinks, especially their sangria was wonderful and the cuban
band was so wonderful we did not want to go home that evening. Had
we not had a early flight out, we might have stayed all night. We
highly recommend this place!!!

This was my second business trip to Miami and I made sure to bring
my colleagues to Lario's. The food and service my first trip were
great and now, two years later, it was even better!
The Mojitos are good, but the food is what keeps me going back.
Try the cuban Pu Pu platter to sample appetizers and the Churassco
or Cuban pot roast, both yummy! They have a great selection of Flan
for dessert, I love the chocolate one! The band can be a bit loud
for dinner, although fairly decent music, so make sure to sit away
from the stage!
Lario's "Prefabricated Appetizers "

We went to Larios after 10pm for drinks and appetaizers, well the
drink was more like a mango "frapee" never tasted the
alcohol in it. The appetaizer was missleading in price it said $13
for two, they charged me $26. Everything in that pu-pu platter was
prefabricated, my dog will not eat it. Nothing was done on premise.
I will never return there.
Lario's "Love
the coconut flan and Shrimp dish"

It's really too bad that some people have had bad experiences with
Larios. I personally found this restaurant to be one of the best
in South Beach. I use to go almost every weekend to eat at Larios
and found the service and food exceptional. I really love their
coconut flan desert; it's very rich and smooth. My favorite meal
was the shrimp in sauce with white rice and plantains!! I also like
the way the pina colada is mixed. Very good. I hope that the people
that had the bad experiences reconsider just one more time. I am
not related to the Estefan's in no way shape or form, nor am I a
friend. I just like the restaurant and it's one of my favorites.
I just like to give credit when credit is due.

Lario's "Not the South Beach diet you want to try"
Date: August 6, 2004
Reviewer: Miami Beach 411 User, Washington D.C.
Lario's will forever live in my memory as the restaurant that provided
the second food poisoning experience of my life. While returning
from Brazil (where I ate and drank for 7 days without incident)
my group was waylaid in Miami due to inclement weather, my group
decided to grab a bite to eat and randomly chose Lario's while walking
around. I had about four bites of the chicken in my "arroz
con pollo" and within about 1/2 hour knew I was in for a long,
and very unpleasant night. Had I know Gloria Estefan owned this
dump I would have chosen another resturaunt without thinking twice.
She has just given me another reason to dislike her. Avoid Lario's
at all costs! Trust me, this is not the South Beach diet plan you
want to try.

We were 11 people on July , saturday 24, 2004, we were celebrated
my son's birthday. First we order "mariquitas" which were
old , some order "churrasco" old, salty, and don't ask
me about the presentation......To resume the worst food that I never
had before!!!!

I was in SoBe earllier this year and a friend and I stopped at Lario's
since we heard it was THE place to go. Crowded room; miserable service
and nondescript food. Not going back...

Lario's "Go Gloria"

We stayed in South Beach for a week mid Feb. 2004. We are big fans
of Gloria Estefan and since she is part owner in Lario's, we decided
to try our first Cuban meal here. We ate dinner at Lario's twice!
Excellent Cuban Chicken Soup, Chiurrasco (skirt steak) with a yummy
dipping sauce. First night we ate at a table inside and had an friendly,
attentive and helpful waiter. Second night we ate outside. Loved
the people watching, the food was good, but our waiter was the pits.
He didn't seem to understand English very well (or was he putting
us on?) Good thing he wasn't our waiter the first night. We might
not have returned. Service is important. Hope you're listening,
Gloria!
Lario's "Lario's is a loser"

Just got back from Larios in Miami Beach and my stomach still hurts.
What a dissapointment. I am a big fan of Cuban Mojitos. I thought
I would do some research and look for the best Mojitos in Miami
Beach. The reviews looked great about Larios on the internet so
I drove down with two friends and gave it a shot. What a let down.
The Mojitos were watered down and served in basic tap water glasses.
No sugar cane. Minimum effort put into these! They shouted "
we do not care about you gringo! Take it or leave it. Hey, Gloria
Estefan owns this joint. If you do not want to eat or drink our
cuban waste there are plenty of other fat stupid tourists to replace
you.. Deal with it." The prices were very classy though. 8
bucks a pop. Ok they got me. We ordered the pollo whatever. It was
inedible. The rice was stale, the plaintains were greasy and vintage.
The service was contemptuous at best but basically just apathetic.
The ropa vieja lived up to its name and the bread was hard and dry.
Basically if you want to have your stomach and pocket book abused
you have found a home in Larios.
