About the department

The Mayor’s Office oversees all municipal operations, sets policy directions, and serves as the primary representative of Miami Beach. This office works closely with city council commissioners, business leaders, and community organizations to foster growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing economic development strategies.
  • Representing the city in regional and national affairs.
  • Managing public relations and citizen engagement.

The City of Miami Beach is governed by a City Commission type of government. The City Commission consists of six elected Comminisoners and an elected Mayor. Commissioners are elected for a term of four years with a term limit of two terms. The Mayor is elected every two years. The City Commission appoints the City Manager who oversees the City Administation.
